George Monbiot is a leading British author and journalist. His most recent book "Heat", outlines the action that society must take if we wish to confront climate change. The article available here is one he wrote in October 2006 in response to the Stern Report. Whilst it is aimed specifically at the United Kingdom, its conclusions are universal.

At the end of December 2009, Ian Cohen applied under freedom of information for all the minutes of the meetings of the Lachlan Critical Water Advisory Committee. The purpose of the FOI application was to understanding how the advisory committee came to conclusions about allocations and plans of action in relation to the Lachlan River.
Marine parks opponents allege that there is no scientific research behind zoning decisions. They didn’t look very hard. No doubt they didn’t want to. The Marine Parks Authority has a plethora of information, including scientific analysis, detailed maps and zonings for each marine park.

Having previously travelled to East Timor to attend the first independence conference, this Parliamentary Study Tour was a natural extension of personally funded tours investigating and writing on small-scale ecologically sustainable tourism opportunities for the newly independent country. Similar opportunities for ecological-tourism industries are present in PNG and to a lesser extent, Indonesia.
